Coral Springs High School a "B" School

In early June, the Florida Department of Education released the FCAT grades for all Broward District schools.

Broward County Public Schools collected a record number of top marks as the state’s 2005/06 school grades were released in Tallahassee. Florida Governor Jeb Bush and Education Commissioner John L. Winn made the statewide announcement.

This year’s grades produced a District-record 144 “A’s” among Broward County’s regular public elementary, middle and high schools, an increase of fifty (50) “A’s” from last year’s total (94). This year’s results also tallied a record 69.6 percent of District schools grading out as “A’s” and 85.5 percent as “B’s” or better. Last year, the District had 46.1 percent of its schools receive “A’s” and 68.4 percent record “B” grades or better.

Thirteen of Broward’s District high schools produced increased marks, including three to “A’s.” Overall, 16 high schools recorded grades of B or better (eight “A’s”), doubling their total of eight (five “A’s” and three “B’s”) from a year ago. Five high schools produced multiple-grade improvements, all reaching a “B” grade or above.

Cooper City High School (from C to A)
Coral Springs High School (from D to B)
Fort Lauderdale High School (from D to B)
Northeast High School (from D to B)
Western High School (from C to A)

After receiving a superior rating at the District level, a number of solos and ensembles went on to the State level at Northeast High School on Monday, April 10, 2006.  The woodwind choir received an excellent rating.  All soloists received either a Superior or Excellent rating.

Everyone sounded great!

CONGRATULATIONS!
